During a special meeting of the Board of Education, the following action took place.
After roll call, Jason Skidmore and Ryan Reu, from The Farnsworth Group, joined via Microsoft Teams to present potential exterior views of the classroom addition and the main entry renovation. The board was presented with seven options for exteriors, and the classroom addition had some discussion and recommendations around the layout of the classrooms.
The Board voted 4-1 to approve a tentative tax levy which would see an increase of 10.71% over last year's tax extension. This will require a truth in taxation hearing to be held on December 19th at 5:15. The following notice will be published in the Morning Sentinel on or about December 7th.

Bethel Grade School District #82
I. A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for Bethel Grade School District #82 for 2024 will be held on December 19, 2024, at 5:15 pm at Bethel Grade School, 1201 Bethel Rd. Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.

II. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2023 were $690,383.47.
The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $763,500. This represents a 10.71% increase over the previous year.
III. The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2023 were $0.
The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2024 are $253,647. This is an increase of 253,647%. Previous levies for debt service had been abated until now. This levy is to fund the addition and renovations being made to Bethel Grade School as passed in a referendum on March 19, 2024.
IV. The total property taxes extended or abated for 2023 were $690,383.47.
The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $763,500. This represents a 10.71% increase over the previous year.
The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is set for December 19th at 5:30 in the board room.
